It studies dances, games, rituals, costumes, embroidery and needlework of the Russian people, it performs fairytales and mummerings. The troop tries to carry on a "lively" folklore, that's why they usually work with people, not on the stage. They also continue to master national musical instruments - reed pipe, vladimir horn, psaltery, balalaika, different percussion instruments. The troop also wants to create a folklore-ethnographic centre "Drevo Jizni" in Sergiev Posad.
