MUZIČKA (Slovakia)
     Traditional Slovak Folklore Music And Performance
     Muzička - this word means in Slovak something like "small" or "lovely" music. If Slovak people hear music that they feel they like or enjoy, they use the word Muzička to name it.
We hope, that we actually fulfill the meaning of the word that, we have chosen to be a name of our music ensemble.
     Who are We? Muzička - is a group of enthusiastic musicians who are fascinated by the authentic folklore of their country. Who have chosen to learn about this musical form so that we can play for the pleasure of public, friends and ourselves.
     In our opinion, to save the spirit of traditional music is not enough to transcript it to notes or play it "correctly". Folk music was not created for itself - it was born for pleasure and fun, sorrow. For weddings, or for funerals. It was created for people and their feelings.
So we do not play it as in a "concert" - this is so far from the spirit of folk music! We play for dancing, singing, enjoying this music with the "whole body". The musicians must use a 100% of their energy when playing authentic folklore.
     This is the only way, how we believe we can keep this music alive. And this is the main idea, and mission of Muzička.
     Our beginnings date back to 1990. Our first performance was a surprise of a wedding party of our common friend. After all, the surprise was more on our side - nobody expeceted, that folk music becomes our principal hobby for next decade. All of us live and work in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. We strive to play folk music and sing songs from several regions of Slovakia in a way similar to the original one . Some of us do not have any, other have only partial formal musicial education.

Members:
The leader of the band is Tomas Brunovsky (first violin), Ladislav Fekete (violin), Ivan Hanula (violin, viola, bass), Martin Brunovsky (viola), Michal Brdarsky (viola), Ludovit Kovacik (bass). All of us sing.
